2022...Once in a Lifetime...Trip to Europe...PARIS

We had an early flight to France this morning. I of course had to get my last taste of Italian Gelato at the airport; this time I chose something different then fruit. I had a chocolate chip and some hazelnut, it was really tasty...

We landed in Paris and hit the ground running; well first we had a wonderful meal in a small cafe; Sam had duck and I tried lamb shank. We finished it off with some chocolate mouse and cake, very pleasant.
We then headed to the Louvre. The louvre is the largest art museum in the world. It is the home of some of the best-known works of art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. The line to see the Mona Lisa up close was a mile long, so we just got a side glance. The statue of Venus is so pretty and I was just in awe most of the time. After the museum, we stopped and got some macaroons and then boarded our bus.

Our dinner that night was at the top of a huge hill in the art district. It was a long way but it ended up being good. When our trip was booked, we were planning on touring the city on Sunday but because that was the last day of the Tour de France, most of the city that we were planning on touring will be on lockdown; so we did a little educational bus tour the first day. We passed by the Notre-Dame Cathedral (which is being reconstructed after a fire), we drove by the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées avenue. Last we stopped at the Eiffel Tower; we were able to get off the bus and take some pictures. Sam didn't want to cross the street but I did. It was awesome.

Day 7 was suppose to be the tour of main stream Paris but as I mentioned our plans changed. We almost didnt get to go to Versailles but we changed it to go in the morning and it worked out. We started the day with a lovely breakfast at our hotel. We then headed to Versailles. This is the home that Louis XIV had built, it is huge. We only went through one wing, but it was cool. The gardens on the ground are so pretty. We then had to switch things up from what we were originally planning on doing today because of the Tour de France. We ended up going on a walking tour of Northern Paris.

On our way from Versailles to our walking tour, I fell asleep on the bus...a student snapped a picture...eek

The walking tour was up the same hill that we walked the night before. It was long again, but it was cool. We got to see the home of Pablo Picasso and a few other interesting things. We were in the art district, so we found a person who was able to draw a picture of Teddys favorite baseball plater Aaron Judge. He really liked it when we gave it to him when we got home.
After dinner, we took the Metro to get to our Cruise of the Seine River. It was relaxing and breathtaking. We ended the day getting to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle.

Not looking forward to the early wake up call tomorrow, but on to a new adventure!!
