2021 Year in Review...Spring Break

So my van that we have had for 7 years started to have some things go wrong. I was visiting my uncle and brothers cabin in Island Park in February and the alternator went out; we were over an hour away from home and it would have cost an arm and a leg to get a tow truck up there; so my brother towed us back to Rigby; we got it fixed but there were some other things that needed to be done. We started looking into getting something different.

There was a family that live on my parents street in Florida that asked us if they could give us their van as they had gotten a bigger vehicle for their family.

It was nice of them to offer that to our little family but I had no idea how we were going to get it to us in Idaho. My parents thought maybe they could drive it out for us, but it ended up that for spring break, the kids and I flew to Florida and then drove the van home.

Sam’s dad was also having a big operation, so we decided to stop by their house as well. I took the kids out of school the week before our break as well…we flew to Florida on the red eye a Saturday night, so we got to Florida on Sunday early morning. We had the best 5 days but it went way to fast. Last summer in 2020, we were there for three weeks, so this time went quick. We left Friday morning real early and drove to Mississippi; it was about 14 hours. My mom drove the first day with us. Saturday morning, we dropped her off at the airport in Memphis Tennessee; she flew home and the kids and I continued on to Arkansas. We stayed there for 4 and a half days and then Thursday we drove to Sam’s brothers house in Kansas. We stayed the night there and then Friday we drove to Laramie, Wyoming and the Saturday we made it home to Idaho. It was pretty crazy but we made it. Ill share some pictures of our trip and explain a little bit about what we did for each picture.

We still had to wear masks in the airport and on the air plane; just like last year, I tried to keep snacks on hand for breaks...
Monday bright and early the kids headed out to the lake. They could live out there if they could.
We hit up Fun Sport and had such a blast...

They were brave!!!
Heading out on Friday Morning!!!
Saturday we dropped my mother off at the airport in Tennessee and went over to the Mud Lake Island River Park, we weren't sure what to expect but Sam's dad had suggested it. Right along the river, it was very pretty!
WE MADE IT TO GRANDPA AND GRANDMAS
They had a fun little scavenger hunt waiting for us when we got there...and it ended at a little out building they had there and it was filled with presents for the kids. How did we get so lucky!!!

We went fishing with Grandpa...
They had fun things planned for us each day...but it was also hard because they live in the middle of nowhere, so it took us a while to get to most places...but we had fun

This was a special train museums, that was really cool
The last day we went to a beautiful springs and had lunch at a park...
Its always hard to say bye!!!

On our way to Kansas we stopped by the Kansas City Chiefs Stadium. It was super cold and windy but Teddy was in heaven...
We had so much fun with our cousins
After leaving Kansas, I thought we would make it to Denver and stay the night; but after getting close to Denver, I realized we could go farther and then not have as much to go on Saturday. We ended up making it to Laramie, Wyoming. We found a hotel that had an open pool (the hotel we stayed at in Mississippi, the hotel was closed) and the kids loved it.

We made it home on Saturday afternoon. Our whole trip was two weeks, one plane ride, 10 states, 2500 miles, two hotels, countless stops, lots of memories and a few meltdowns. I was so grateful for many things, for the new van, the safe travels and good kids...WE DID IT!!!
