Thanksgiving
We left for
Texas on Tuesday the 26th of December; our flight was a 6am…so we
had to be to the airport a little before 5…my mom was nice enough to come and
get us and drop us off; we had a layover in Atlanta; the first flight was okay,
both kids were awake but behaved well; our layover was not too long, we had
enough time to get to the other terminal and grab a bite at a little place; I
actually got a Jamba Juice. I was so happy when I saw it, I got my favorite
Razzmatazz and it was delicious; Teddy loved it too and took the cup and kept
saying mine…=)
The second flight both kids fell asleep on; we laid teddy on the seat between us and he slept the whole time; May girl was on and off but definitely was not making a big fuss…a few people on both flights told us how good our kids had been and I was so so grateful that they had been awesome.
My husband’s father and brother picked us up from the airport, it was so cold.
At
first when we decided to go it was only going to be us going; I was excited for
my husband’s parents to meet Macy for the first time and also for Teddy to get
some time with Grandma and Grandpa Phillips; he is at such a fun age. Well as
time went on, more and more family said they would be coming. His brother
Callan and wife Karey came with Liam who is 4…and his brother Marshal and wife
Sara came with Jaxon and Lyla who are close in age to my kids. I have to say I
was sad and a little selfish at first because I had wanted Teddy to get his
time with Sam’s parents, but I was also happy that Teddy would get to play with
his cousins and he had a good time. He and Jax are only 4 months apart, Jax is
a little older…they played really well together and cousin Liam was in on the
action too…Little Lyla is 2 months older than Macy and they seemed to get along
as well as they could for being so small.
The first day we were there, Sara and
Karey and I went and got pedicures and then on a whim got my hair cut. I had
told them while we were getting out toes done that I had been thinking about it
and so we just did it; Karey got hers done too and it was a little overwhelming
but okay; I got like 10 inches cut off…crazy…she did not stack the back as I
had wanted and it sorta poofs but I can’t believe that I actually just did it.
I think I might want to go a little shorter but not sure, keep going back and
forth…we shall see.
The first night we were there while I was gone getting the pedicure and haircut Teddy fell asleep in the chair; he slept most of the evening and thus was up alot during the night...but it was okay; I was grateful for the help watching him while we were gone
Thanksgiving was nice and overall we had a good time. The kids and I slept in one bedroom, my husband slept on the couch downstairs, even from up in the bedroom, his snores shook the house…not literally, but it was so bad…he really needs some help; I wish a sleep study was not so expensive. Macy slept in an ancient pack and play that they borrowed from some friends; it was hard to put together but looked really coo; haha.
We found a crib or small toddler bed mattress in one of the closets and put it on the floor for Teddy, he did fairly well…he crawled to the door a few times but I would call him back and he would just got back and fall asleep, so cute.
The day before thanksgiving we went to the new Disney movie Frozen; I was not sure how it was going to go, as last Christmas we brought Teddy to the movies; it was a long not child movie last time, but he just has not done all that well in theaters. They did so good, both kids actually fell asleep close to the end, so we got to watch it without interruption…so nice…
Sam's brother had to bring a dog with them; I was not all too happy about it, but it ended up being okay...many a times I found Teddy in the room just sitting and watching the dog...I will not have a dog in my house or own one but I think its fun when Teddy can interact with one!!!
It was hard to get Teddy to wear pants and a sweatshirt but it was cold and he finally warmed up to it!!! Aunt Karey loved holding the girls at any moment she could!!! We love Aunt Karey Sam got some time with the girls and the boys!!!
Grandmas Phillips got some Macy time too; she loves her!!!
I got a taste of what it would be like to have twins...bless you moms who have them =)
We got to go to the town center the day after thanksgiving, they had a fair going on; we got to see some reindeer and other animals, Teddy hated the carousel and the pony ride, they cost 5 bucks and I guess it was worth seeing the fear in his eyes; daddy was with him both times but he still hated it. It was nice to spend some time with his brother and family.
Saturday we went to the Dallas Temple with his brother and sister in law; it was really nice. I got to see a good friend Lori, who I met while serving my mission in Joshua. So fun to be able to see people randomly while visiting.
After the Temple we went to eat at a burger joint and then we headed to meet my friend Dawna at Braums. It was so yummy and a delight to visit with my sweet friend, who I also met while serving my mission in Coppell; I will always hold a special place in my heart for Dawna Jo
Macy Girl just melted into her arms!!!
Sunday I was able to go visit some people from my mission; I went to early church in my last area. My companion that I served with still lives there and she and her husband are expecting a little boy in the spring; I got to see some people that I came to love;
We then headed to my second area to visit a friend; I ended up going to the afternoon church with her family; Teddy sat on her mom’s lap and played with her I-pad, he was in heaven. I had a nice time visit so many people that I served with and around.
Later Sunday we visited our friends the Leighton’s; it was nice to visit and catch up.
The rest of our trip was just relaxing and having fun with family; we did some shopping on Monday and then headed back home on Tuesday.
The kids did very well again and both flights, our layover was shorter and we were a little late getting in, so we had to run to our next gate. I was a little bummed that I did not get a jamba juice again, haha…I was not that sad, but the thought did cross my mind. .
It was nice to come home and be in our own little dwelling and bed but I am grateful for the time that we were able to spend with family and visit some dear friends!!!
